Sierra Leonean striker Mohammed Buya Turay scored the second half equalizing goal which helped his club Djurgarden win this year’s Swedish league.
On November 2nd 2019 the 24-year-old striker also finished the league as the top goal-scorer. Scoring 15 goals to become the first Sierra Leonean international to win the Golden Boot in a European league.
In the first half of the game Djurgarden where two goals down against their counterparts Norrkoping but just 5 minutes into the second half Swedish midfielder Jesper Karistom was able to make a goal and finally at the 65th minute Buya Turay earned them the much need equalizer. This being the last match of the Swedish League season.
In an interview after the match the top scorer said it is a normal thing for him to score goals.
He also said his motivation is the belief that he has the backing of his team. Buya Turay has become the second Sierra Leone international to win the Swedish league Alhaji Kamara who won it four years ago with Norrkoping.
This success came 10 months after he refused to return back to his Belgium club Saint Truidense who loaned him out to Djurgarden in January.
During his 5month stay at Saint – Truidnse he only scored 1 goal after being featured for only 163 minutes in six league appearances. Buya joined Saint- Truidense from another Swedish side Dalkurf FF on a three-year deal. for whom he netted 9 goals in 13 appearances in the Swedish season last year.
