For the first time in the history of the Sierra Leone Police force a female officer has been appointed deputy inspector general.
Mrs Elizabeth Turay who was recently appointed by the newly appointed inspector general of police Ambrose Micheal Sovula is the first female officer to attain such ranking since the establishment of the Sierra Leone police force in 1894.
The Sierra Leone police whose sole responsibility is law enforcement, safeguarding of life and property and criminal investigation throughout the country has exhibited great efforts towards gender equality.
